Day 4

Oh my roommate is so weird!!! She was laying in bed with no pants on and it's 9:00 at night. I think I heard some music on upstairs but just BARELY. Well, she all of a sudden, got up, put on clothes and started to walk to the door. I said, are you going somewhere? Thinking, this is the strangest thing ever. It's 9:00 pm and your in bed!!! So she says, "yeah, i'm just going out for a while".... So, I've noticed the last 2 days at lunch, Sharon has came in and reminded everyone that the walls are thin and you can hear everything, including the people above and below you. Basically telling you to keep your tv's down. I think the crazy roommate has been complaining! I mean, where else is she going at this hour??? We're talking about the queen of naps and someone who never leaves the room!

Anyway, here's about my day!

Last night, I made a decision that I was not going to open gym at 6:00 for the rest of the week. I'm getting my sleep! I'm tired, sore, and have 5 more weeks to wake up at 6:00. So, I set my alarm for 6:30, woke up right away and went to the bathroom, trying to be a nice roommate and be quiet. So I do my thing, come back out at 6:55 just in time for breakfast. Well, she's up and was like, "OH! I overslept. OH geez, I just hate being rushed. OH this is terrible. I can't believe you didn't wake me up!" I was like, it's not my job to wake you up, considering you sleep all the time!!! Set your own damn alarm, old lady!!! So we get to breakfast and she says to everyone, oh, i overslept. I didn't hear betsey like i usually do! ohhhhhhhhh i was so mad! Anyway, breakfast was a yogurt parfait. It was really good. Granola on the bottom, soy yogurt in the middle and fresh fruit on top. very very good. 10 out of a 10!!! We hiked again today at 8 like usual. once again, the hike went fantastic!!! it was soooooooo beautiful. katrina (NC) took some awesome pictures since I don't have my camera. She's gonna put them on a cd for me!! them 2 ladies are just soooo nice. they include me in every picture!!! they make me laugh so hard i am squealing!!!! oh sheesh! i seriously do not think i could of got through my first week without being with them. i am going to cry when they leave on sunday. i'm actually dreading it!!!! i'm still pissed we got separated on the exercise classes. katrina was pole dancin on the punching bag the other day!!! she told me today on the hike she used to be a lil wild. hahaha i'm thinking, oh brother.. if only you 2 ladies knew me from back home!! hahaha yesterday when we were hiking katrina told me she would love for me to come visit them this summer!!! they live in wilmington, nc, which is very close to the beach. i was sooo touched! then again today, she was like, i'm serious! we really want you to come see us this summer!! so i am definitely going to try to fit that in!!! that'd be a fun, easy, weekend trip! we have this hiking guide named fletcher that has been hiking with us. holy hell is he good lookin!!! he's smokin hot, let me tell ya!!!! and sooooooo nice! well, between Captain (which is teresa from NC), Katrina and I, we practically harrass him but he loves it! he always tells us how much he loves hiking with us because we're sooo funny!!! OMG, the funniest thing happened today during our hike. First off, Captain got stuck by a cactus and got stung so that hurt her right foot. THEN, we're climbing down these rocks and she fell down and hurt her right ankle. The poor thing! so we're all gathered her making sure she's okay, and its get silent (PS, I am laughing so hard out loud right now typing this) and she lets out the biggest fart. Ohmigod it was so funny. So we all start snikering and trying to hold it in! Finally, Katrina starts laughing so hard and everyone just erupts with laughter!!! it was sooooooooooooo funny!!! but never fear, Captain is still kickin and the ankle will be fine! OH, another funny tidbit. Everyone here is obsessed with talking about the bathroom schedule and farting. Since you're getting double the fiber as normal, your system is a lil messed up. Well, we all talk about it and laugh about it. It's quite comical.

Ok, so we're back from the hike and it's on to aquacise like normal then lunch. Lunch was AMAZING!! We had the BEST broccoli and tomato soup!!!! and it was only 105 calories. ohmigod it was good. i was almost liking the bowl. After the soup we had a mushroom and bacon pita. i was a lil worried about this dish. It had feta cheese, spinach, some red and yellow square things, and mini slices of (i think) tomatoes. And everything was coated in this awesome dressing. So i picked out all the mushrooms and ate the rest. It was really good!!! I liked it alot!!! That dressing was so good.

Afte lunch, we had a cooking demo from the chef. it was soooooo good! he gives you all kinds of hints and ways to cut your calories and you'd never tell the difference! i can't wait to try this stuff out at home. I bought his cookbook so I'm prepared!!!

Now, it's time to exercise. The first class was Treading. I don't know if any of you have heard of treading but I hear it's pure and utter torture!! Well, I heard right!! This class is crazy. In fact, they only suggest you do it once a week for more than one reason! Anyway, you pick a cardio machine and I chose the bike. You go 5-4-3-2-1-30-30. Meaning You start out going 110% as fast and hard as you can go for 5 straight minutes. They want your heartrate as high as it can possibly go! You literally go balls to the wall to where by 2.5 min, you want to quit. Then you get a 5 min recover. After those 5 min, it's literally hard to pedal. When she described it, she said during the 5 min of speed, you can barely breathe. you should NOT be able to talk or even concentrate on anything else! Then, you go hard/fast for 4 min straight and then take a 4 min recover. And so on... Man, it's a killer. After that class, I was so dead, I wanted to skip the next class sooo bad. It is called Ball Works. You exercise with one of those big ball things. We mainly worked with weights and did lots of pushups. I was so tired, I pretty much half assed it. I know that's terrible but oh well. Actually, I'd say I gave treading 110% and ball works 75%. So we did the gentle stretch and we were done with exercising!!!!!!

It's dinner time now!!! by now, i'm actually a lil hungry. OMG, it was soooo good!!! We had steamed broccoli and cauliflower which was good. I put some salad dressing stuff on it that made it awesome. and chicken stuffed with spinach, basil, red and yellow bell peppers, and other stuff. and the chicken sat on top of wild rice. H-E-A-V-E-N!!! sooooooo good. so i've figured out, everytime i mention red and yellow squares, i think they are bell peppers?? After dinner, we had another lecture and then I treated myself to a .......... MASSAGE!!!!!!!! It was awesome! She went an extra 10 minutes too! Also, comment on this and tell me, am I supposed to tip these people? Because that thought didn't occur to me until my walk home...

So, all the "cool people" at this ranch wear these watches that tells you your heartrate. Well, how many calories you burn depends on your heartrate. Well, I decided to jump on the band wagon and purchase one. I know, I'm tight as hell but I sprung. So you wear this band around your chest right under your boobs that takes your heartrate and it sends a signal to your watch. This watch calculates your calories you burn. Well, I bought it after the hike and just check out hte results.

aquacise - 550 cal (i turned it on and off just for this class)
treading - 550 cal
ball works - 400 cal
stretch - 200 cal

for treading, ball works, and stretch, i left it on constant and the total was exactly 1350!!! isn't that crazy. So i burnt off all my food for the day, plus more, and that is not including my RMR (excect for 2:30-4:45)!!! craziness! so i'm putting it on tonight, sleeping with it on, and keeping it on all day tomorrow so I can see my entire calories burned for the entire day!!! sounds fun huh!!!

ok, i'm tired now.. it's 9:35.. waaay past my bedtime. PS: It's 9:35 and she's still not back. This is so strange!!

  1. OMG betsey, reading this brings back SO many memories....and I'm so glad that I got to share them with you! I miss you already and I can't wait to see you in my 'hood this summer....we will have SO much fun! hang in there girlie and i want to hear all of your progress!

    2) if i woulda been there....(i SOOO woulda ate your mushrooms that you picked out) :)
